3 Reasons Buying a Pre-Owned Boat Might Save You Money

Is a boat at the top of your holiday wish list?

If so, now is a good time to begin your search for the perfect wakeboard, wakesurf, or ski boat! While Buxton Marine specializes in beautiful new Nautique boats, we also have a wide selection of pre-owned boats in Dallas, Texas from Nautique, Mastercraft, Tige, Supra, and more. Before you buy, consider the reasons buying pre-owned might just save you money:

Same Features. Lower Prices.

Think of it like buying a new or pre-owned vehicle. Sure, this year’s model is the latest and greatest, but last year’s model might also have all the same bells and whistles, just at a lower cost. Even better, that model from last year might have after market customizations that raise its value – and again – you might be able to get all of that for less that the cost of a new one.

Extras Galore.

Not only might a pre-owned boat have after-market customizations that would cost a fortune to add, they might also have extras included like life jackets, emergency equipment, flags, flares, and more. Add up every item that comes with the boat and assign a cost to it to determine how much more you would have to spend with a new boat to get the same amenities.

Check Maintenance Records.

Just because a boat is X amount of years old doesn’t mean all of the components are that old! Ask to see the maintenance records if possible to see if any of the components are new or in like-new condition from a recent replacement. It’s like getting a new Dallas boat for less!

If you are considering a pre-owned boat, then give us a call at Buxton Marine today! Our knowledgeable sales staff has a large inventory of boats, and if we don’t have what you’re looking for, we can find it! We are experts in wakeboard boats in Texas and we can’t wait to help you find the boat of your dreams.

Good times ahead!

Wakeboarding Tips: How to Make it Look Easy

Wakeboarding is just one of those things that comes easier to some than others. We’ve seen lots of people just pop up on a wakeboard with little technique, and then others consistently struggle.

Regardless of your skill level or aptitude for wakeboarding, here are a few wakeboarding tips from Buxton Marine in Lewisville, Texas to help you make it look easy:

Squat in the Water.

As you’re waiting to be pulled up, get your body as close to the board as you can in a squatting position. The closer your center-of-gravity is to the water and the board, the easier it will be for you to balance as the boat pulls you up. Once up, then you can start to stand.

Determine Which Foot Should be in Front.

If you have trouble getting up on the wakeboard, another one of our wakeboarding tips is to simply switch your foot position and put the other foot out front. So if you’ve been trying to swing the board around with the right foot out front, try shifting to the left instead. Sometimes the answer is just this simple!

Ask the Driver to Go Slow.

Many inexperienced drivers think “faster is better.” This is not the case! One of our wakeboarding tips is to make sure you are going within 14-18 mph, as to help the wakeboarder gain stability.

Use a Shorter Rope.

Sometimes slack in the rope can be hard for a new rider to manage. Try using a shorter rope – maybe one that’s 20’ behind the boat – to help the wakeboader.

Relax.

This is going to be fun! Now just make sure you’re being pulled behind a Nautique for the best ride on the market. Good times ahead! Call Buxton Marine today to take a test-drive on one of our beautiful Nautique models available now at our Nautique showroom in Lewisville, Texas or Long Cove Marina.
