Wakeboard Shopping: How to Choose the Right Wakeboard for You

When you’re wakeboard shopping – whether you are beginner who is brand new to the sport or a seasoned rider looking to upgrade – the endless features and brands can be overwhelming. How do you know which board is right for you? Buxton Marine has a large Lewisville pro shop, with lots of the latest models from the top manufacturers. Our staff is educated on all things wakeboarding and can offer any pointers you may need. In the meantime, here are a few recommendations on how to choose the right wakeboard for you:

Height & Weight

First off, you must consider the rider’s height and weight. Each manufacturer will have different guidelines for this, so check those carefully, but generally speaking, riders under 100 lbs. are looking for a board that is 130 inches or less in length– while someone who is 170-250 is going to want a board that is at least 140 inches in length. If multiple people are using the board you are wakeboard shopping for, then go with the longest length that corresponds with the height and weight of the rider who will ride the most. Again, each board manufacturer and shape will have different guidelines, so ask the wakeboard professionals at the Buxton Marine pro shop for help!

Skill Level

Skill level also comes into play when choosing a board. Advanced riders will be looking for something that has a continuous or 3-stage rocker style and may prefer a slightly shorter board for pop and spin in the air, while beginners will be focused on longer board styles that glide across the water with more ease. Trial and error can come into play as you determine the board that is right for you when wakeboard shopping.

Ready to find the perfect wakeboard? If you are located in North Texas, visit us at our Lewisville Pro Shop, conveniently located along the banks of Lake Lewisville. Our team is expertly trained to assist you in all of your wakeboard needs, from bindings – to boards – to ropes.

Good times ahead!

The Redesigned Classic: Super Air Nautique 210

Let’s talk about the classic beauty of the Super Air Nautique 210.

The long awaited redesign has arrived, and frankly, it’s better than ever! You’ll love the redesigned technology features and even new design features, all while staying true to what made the classic so great in the first place.

Technology Features

At the heart of the all new Super Air Nautique 210 is the helm command center. You’ll enjoy the Touchscreen LINC Panoray system, perfect for controlling every aspect of your boat and keeping tabs on the engine and the rider alike. Everything can be handled via the LINC Panoray system, so there is no need to go anywhere else or crane your neck backwards to see the rider. The helm command feature even allows for control buttons just above the throttle, leaving you with yet another simple way to access your LINC Panoray without taking your hands away from the throttle. The JL Audio system is also top of its class, providing crystal clear sound as you navigate the water. It’s everything you loved about the old model, but brought up to speed with the best technology available for 2018.

Design Features

The open wrap around lounge layout is perfect for social gatherings of any size. Enjoy visiting with family and friends alike on the beautifully appointed Super Air Nautique 210. The helm seat is also inviting, with plush swivel seating, making a day on the lake as comfortable as sitting in your recliner. You’ll find the interior is packed with storage and design features that make carting all your gear a breeze. And lastly, the  thing we probably love the most is that the 210 didn’t lose its traditional bow, with extra seating, cupholders, storage under the seats, and even a dedicated stereo zone.

3 Things to Consider Before Purchasing a Wakeboard Boat

Oh the days on the lake are glorious and they make the work involved seem small, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t work and expenses related to owning a boat. Buxton Marine recommends that before jumping into boat ownership for the first time and purchasing a wakeboard boat – whether you’re buying a brand new Nautique or a gorgeous pre-owned MasterCraft, Malibu, etc. – be sure to consider these 3 things:

Where Will You Store the Boat?

Before purchasing a wakeboard boat, be sure to consider where you are going to store it – both during the summer season and during the off season. Do you have room at your home to store it in a garage or in the yard? Are you planning to rent space to store it? Will it be at the marina or somewhere else? Have a game plan before purchasing a wakeboard boat because those costs can – and will – add up. Also consider that during the winter months, your boat will either need to be stored indoors or shrinkwrapped to protect it from the elements.

Are You Prepared to Maintain the Boat?

Boat maintenance is crucial to years of good times ahead on the lake. Not to mention, it helps your boat hold its value on the pre-owned market, should you choose to sell and upgrade to a newer model. Boat maintenance includes yearly winterization, engine maintenance, interior cleaning and measures to protect it, and routine waxing of the boat’s exterior.

Have You Considered the Other Expenses?

As you know, owning a boat has other expenses beyond the cost of the boat and the costs mentioned above. Also consider:

  • Fees: Boat insurance and registration fees will be routine costs you should factor into the price tag.
  • Vehicle: Can your vehicle tow the boat you are considering?
  • Gas: Each time you head to the lake, you’ll need to be prepared to fill ‘er up!
  • Accessories: While your boat may come with a few accessories, be prepared to outfit it with the other toys and necessities including life jackets, tubes, skis, wakeboards, ropes, and more.

We believe that the joys of boat ownership far outweigh the costs, but we always want our customers to be know what they are walking into! If you’re ready to purchase a wakeboard boat or ski boat, then now is the time to call Buxton Marine in Lewisville, Texas – the best boat dealer in North Texas! We’re conveniently located along Lake Lewisville and we would love to help you find a boat that meets your needs and your budget.

Looking for a Pontoon Boat for Sale in Lewisville, Texas? Call Buxton Marine!

Buxton Marine in Lewisville, Texas carries a wide range of boats – ski boats, wakeboard boats, and of course, pontoon boats too! If you’re ready to purchase a new boat for the summer boating season, here are 4 great reasons to consider a pontoon boat for sale:

  1. Great for Large Groups

If you are planning to do a lot of entertaining on the boat, or just have a large family, then a pontoon boat is an excellent choice. Many other boat styles can feel small and cramped, but a pontoon allows plenty of space to sunbathe, watch the riders behind the boat, and just enjoy a day on the lake.

  1. Storage Space

One of the biggest complaints we hear about boats is, “well, there isn’t enough storage space.” This is not the case with a pontoon boat for sale! Pontoon boats utilize each nook and cranny to provide all the storage you need for gear and snacks, leaving you with tons of deck space to move freely.

  1. Easy to Customize

The options are endless with a pontoon boat! Talk to the experts at Buxton Marine on Lake Lewisville about speaker systems, lighting, and other accessories that can make the pontoon uniquely yours.

  1. Versatility

Do you want to fish but your son wants to tube? Are you planning a day on the lake and want to be able to play and also have room to entertain? A pontoon can do it all! When you purchase a pontoon boat for sale, you know that your boating needs will be met.

Ready to make lasting memories on the lake this summer with your family and friends? Think a pontoon boat might be right for you? If so, call Buxton Marine in Lewisville! While we’re the #1 Nautique dealer in the United States, we offer a variety of high quality pre-owned boats to choose from as well.

Good times ahead!

Spring Boating Checklist: It’s Time to Start Thinking about Summer

The days are warming up here in North Texas, and those beautiful, sunny days may have you itching to get out on the water in your beautiful Nautique!

Now’s the time to begin the process of getting your boat ready for the lake life! Follow these tips on our Buxton Marine Spring Boating Checklist to ensure you’re ready for good times ahead as soon as the water warms!

  1. Get a Tune Up

Just like anything with a motor, boats need maintenance and TLC to continue running in their best condition. As part of your spring boating checklist, if you do nothing else, we encourage you to bring your boat into Buxton Marine in Lewisville, Texas for a service check. Our team of expertly trained technicians will give your boat a thorough once over and make sure everything mechanical is ready for the season ahead.

  1. Assess Life Jackets

Take an inventory of your life jackets and make sure you still have the right kinds to meet the needs of your passengers. Was there a new baby born this past year? Or a kid who has grown into a larger size life jacket? Make these life jacket adjustments before the season starts.

  1. Buy New Gear

Here’s the fun part! Wakeboards, tubes, and ropes – oh my! What do you need to have fun on the lake this summer? Visit the Buxton Marine Pro Shop to see the latest in gear to create a memorable summer for all.

  1. Develop Your Float Plan

A float plan tells someone who is not on the lake with you what your itinerary for the day is and when you plan to return to land. While you obviously can’t supply a float plan now for every day out on the lake, go ahead and fill in pertinent info that will never change to use as a template throughout the summer.

  1. Set Goals

Have each member of your family begin thinking now about what they’d like to accomplish on the lake this summer as part of your spring boating checklist. Does your son want to learn a new wakeboard trick? Are you interested in learning to wakesurf? Set goals now and then work toward those goals throughout the summer. It’s fun to see what you’ve achieved by summer’s end!

If you’re considering buying a new boat before the season begins, give us a call at Buxton Marine in Lewisville, Texas or Malakoff, Texas! Clients come to us from all over the country looking for the perfect ski boat, wakeboard boat, or wakesurf boat, and it’s because our honesty and integrity precedes us. Boat Ownership: 5 Things to Ask Yourself Before Buying a Boat

So you’re ready to take the plunge into boat ownership – or are you?

Buying a wakeboard, wakesurf, or waterski boat is a big decision, and one that takes careful consideration before making the big purchase. You need to know exactly what you want and if it is adequately going to fit your needs.

Buxton Marine – the best boat dealer in North Texas – is here with 5 things you need to ask yourself before buying a boat:

#1: What Do You Envision Yourself Doing on the Lake?

Think about a beautiful day on the lake. What are you doing? Are you watching the kids tube – or are you on a wakeboard perfecting your craft? Before buying a boat, make sure that the boat can do everything you want it to do. Make a comprehensive list of all the things you want and then find the boat that fits all of those needs. The purchase is too big not to make it all work.

#2: Are you Looking for New or Used?

There are pros and cons of both, so before beginning your search, determine if both would fit your needs. New boats come with warranties and the latest comforts and technology, while older boats have lower price tags.

#3: Are Your Finances in Order?

Think about the best way for you to achieve your dream of boat ownership. Through Buxton Marine, you have access to the most competitive rates on boat financing. Simply visit with a Buxton Marine sales associate for more details.

#4: Which Dealer and Manufacturer is Right for Me?

Each manufacturer and boat dealer comes with their own areas of expertise, so it’s important to find the one that is right for you. Buxton Marine is the best boat dealer in North Texas and the #1 Nautique dealer in the United States. We know our stuff and the Buxton Marine name is one you can trust for years to come.

#5: Can You Operate the Boat Safely?

Once you’ve purchased your dream boat, it’s important to take a crash course in running it properly. Take boater’s safety courses and operating courses so that you know what you’re up against and can maximize your fun on the lake.

5 Tips for Pulling a Water Tube for the First Time

You’ve just purchased your new boat and are ready to have some fun! Chances are you’ll be using that new boat (hopefully it’s a Nautique!) to pull riders on a tube. If you’re planning on pulling a water tube for the first time, here are 5 tips from Buxton Marine – your Lewisville, Texas boat dealer – to get you started:

  1. Riders Must Wear a Life Jacket

This should be a no brainer, but it bears repeating. While you may not always feel the need to wear a PFD onboard the boat, wearing one while tubing is a must.

  1. Consider the Rider’s Skill Level

If you are pulling a water tube for the first time, it’s smart to start slow to get your bearings on how your boat handles turns, waves, and bumps. Check your boating manual before starting for guidelines on recommended speed for towing riders, maximum weight, towing speed, etc.

  1. Designate a Lookout

Designate someone on the boat as the official lookout who will watch the tube and see how the riders are doing. Are they signaling to go slower? Are there obstacles coming up? Has someone fallen off? Your lookout is an extra set of eyes and ears on the lake.

  1. Get the OK from the Riders Before Starting

Before starting your water tubing ride, have the riders signal that they are ready to begin. Each rider should be in ready position, holding on to handles and aware of how to shift their weight safely on the tube.

  1. Beware of Taking Wakes Too Fast

As your riders get more comfortable on the water, it can be fun to cross over existing wakes in the water. Before doing so, be sure to slow down. Depending on the tube and it’s weight, the tube can take pretty high bounces over those wakes, which can cause back injuries.

If you just bought a new wakeboard boat – Nautique, MasterCraft, etc. – and are ready to pull a water tube for the first time, don’t hesitate to come into Buxton Marine – the boating experts in Lewisville, Texas. Our team can show you the best tubes on the market in our Buxton Marine Pro Shop and offer safety guidelines for each.

Good times ahead!

Boating 101: How to Operate Your Boat Safely in a Storm

In Texas, the weather can change on a dime, and this happens whether you are on land or water! If a great day on the lake turns south and clouds begin to roll in, make sure you know how to operate your boat safely in a storm. Here are a few boat safety tips from Buxton Marine in Lewisville, Texas to help you navigate the storm effectively!

  1. Put Life Jackets On

Locate a life jacket for each passenger and make sure each person on board the boat is wearing one. This is an absolute must in any stormy situation!

  1. Activate Navigation Lights

In order to avoid collisions, be sure to turn your navigation lights on. It’s smart to give yourself a refresher in using your navigation lights properly before getting on the water this next season.

  1. Reduce Speed

Keep your boat moving forward to shore, but at a lower speed, paying close attention to your surroundings. Head to shore if it is safe to do so.

  1. Have a Float Plan

Before heading out for the day, be sure to alert someone to your plans – where you will be boating, how long, etc. This is called a Float Plan and it will give you peace of mind for any day on the lake – stormy or not.

  1. Cut Waves at 45 Degrees

If you run up against large waves and are trying to operate your boat safely in a storm, try to maneuver your boat to cut the wave at a 45-degree angle. This will help avoid water rushing overboard and into the boat.

  1. Watch for Signs of Bad Weather

One of the best ways to navigate stormy weather is to avoid it all together. Be sure to check the forecast before going out on the lake, and watch for signs of bad weather rolling in. Head to shore and call it a day if the temperature begins to drop suddenly, you see dark clouds or lighting, or if there are vertical clouds, as all are signs of storms.

Buxton Marine – the #1 boat dealer in North Texas – wishes you good times ahead on the lake!
